My love of gingerbread houses began more than 10 years ago in Phoenix, Arizona. Our church bulletin had a request for women to help make gingerbread house centerpieces for an upcoming Ladies Holiday gala. We learned how to make the dough, roll it out, bake the pieces, assemble the houses, and of course, decorate them!
I had so much fun making gingerbread houses for the church project that year that I wanted to continue making and decorating gingerbread houses. I decided to host a gingerbread house-themed party for my daughter’s 3rd birthday in November. The kids each decorated a house and got to take it home as a party favor. The gingerbread houses were a huge hit, and the kids all had a lot of fun.
Since then, my family and I have been baking and decorating gingerbread houses every year. Everyone in the family looks forward to Thanksgiving time, when we make houses for the kids to decorate with their cousins and families.
My goal is to share the joy, love, and tradition of gingerbread houses with everyone!
